Kawartha/Haliburton Victim Services is a non-profit,charitable organization who provides immediate onsite and
co-ordinated support 24 hours/day, 7
days/week. We work in partnership with
Police and Emergency Service agencies
providing free, confidential and immediate assistance to
victims of crime, trauma and tragic circumstance or disaster throughout the City of Kawartha Lakes and Haliburton County.
Dealing with a crisis is something
we may all face at some point in our
lives. Sudden death, physical, sexual,
or emotional abuse, homicide or suicide, elder abuse, fire or personal
crisis can happen at any time. In addition to fear, anger, isolation, and confusion, victims may experience
intense mental or physical distress. Immediate support and assistance can help victims cope with a crisis.
Trained volunteers and staff provide emotional support, practical assistance and referral information to victims referred to us by Police Agencies, Emergency Services and Community Agencies. Victims can also access our services directly by calling our office which has staff and volunteers available at all times. Our services are free and completely confidential and will only be offered with the consent of the victim.
