About our Services
We are specially trained staff and volunteers who are available 24/7 free of charge to all of the City of Kawartha Lakes and Haliburton County.
Volunteers are recruited from across your community and understands the needs and circumstances unique to the area. Our comprehensive screening process and intensive training supported by constant guidance and education ensures that you will be addressed with dignity, respect, compassion, empathy and confidentiality.
Our Objectives
- To lessen the trauma of victimization
- To help victims cope with the impact of crime and or tragedy
- To assist and encourage the victim to connect with appropriate community services
- To give the community the opportunity to become more involved in dealing with the effects of crime and in mobilizing crime prevention in their area
- To enable police/emergency services to be available sooner to help keep you and your community safer.

Ways We Help:
- Help victims cope with the impacts of a trauma event
- Help the victims regain a sense of personal control
- Help victims return their lives to a desired degree of stability
- Provide an opportunity for victims to vent their feelings
- Assist victims until their community or natural support network arrives
- Provide information about appropriate available resources/
- Reduce the possibility of revictimization
- Indentify options/choices at a time when victims may need guidance/direction
- Ensure victims receive and will continue to receive support and assistance
- Advocate on victims behalf
- Assist police and other emergency service responders
- Prevent victimization through education,planning,strategies
- Provide opportunities for community members to help each other in their own community.
